Big Sur Retreat Grades 6-8 20014
Ever fall students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to participate in the Big Sur Retreat. We leave Carmel campus Thursday, September 25, and return on Friday, September 26. Students will bring their gear to school at the normal time on Thursday, and will return to school by 2:30 pm on Friday. We ask that you pick up your students promptly on Friday, as they are tired form the experience.
The retreat is in advisory groups, and offers a setting outside the school environment for students and faculty to participate in outdoor activities and get to know each other better. We hike and swim in Pfeiffer State Park, and camp at Fernwood campground. Students get to set up tents, cook outdoors, perform, play and generally have fun.
Students will be provided with a named duffel bag in which to put their belongings. Please ensure that all items are named, and sleeping bags are in stuff sacks. Students need to have a daypack that will go on the bus with them to Big Sur separate from their duffel bag. The daypack will contain a snack and lunch for Thursday, sunscreen, a full water bottle, a warm jacket or sweatshirt, and swimming gear if they wish to get in the water. The logistics and the equipment list are given under the Information & Forms tab above.
We look forward to the retreat, and the opportunity to get to know your children better.
